Rpeaters temporarily off the air for moving to new site

parrot road antenna install croppedMarch 3, 2017 -- Efforts continue on the Parrott Rd. repeater project. In late February, during that stretch of good weather, the VHF and UHF antennas and feedlines were installed on the tower. Both antennas are mounted on the west leg directly beneath the WLDE antenna, at about 300 feet. Initial tests of both antennas appear good. A few brief contacts around town using both antennas gave encouraging results.

Earlier this week, the D-STAR system at the Masonic Temple, and the 146.94 MHz Fusion system at Parkview Hospital were taken out of service and the equipment removed in preparation for their installation at the Parrott Rd. site. A 900 MHz data link was installed between the Parrott Rd. site and the home of Phil Hooper, AB9IZ to provide internet connectivity at Parrott Rd. for the D-STAR system.

As soon as we get a stretch of good weather again, the D-STAR and Fusion equipment will be installed in the enclosure at Parrott Rd. and fired up. Hopefully this can be accomplished in the next few weeks.
